My decision to focus on Quinceañeras

ree

For years I have been photographing many types of shoots, from maternity, graduation, weddings, professional headshots, family, to boudoir! I have tested the waters with all the different photoshoots and I was tied up with a hard decision of focusing on families or quinceaneras.

I always loved to photograph families and freeze those beautiful moments in time with the little ones (and they are so darn cute!) After contemplating, I decided to stick with quinceaneras. "Why not just do weddings?" would be my most common response. Honestly, I love weddings don't get me wrong! But something about quinceaneras I absolutely fell in love with. I still get to capture the families and smiles during the quinceanera events. I get to capture the moments when the parents and grandparents faces light up when they realize how big their baby girl has grown. All of those little valuable moments that I get to witness fills me up. The idea of a young girl celebrating her milestone of becoming a young woman is glorifying to me. The culture that is filled in these celebrations are so amazing to witness.

Another fulfilling reason to pivot towards quinceanera photoshoots is because my clients love to print my work. I absolutely love the fact that many of my quinceanera clients are wanting to print out their photos on a high quality canvas, and that IS for a reason. In a hispanic tradition, a quinceañera canvas print is hung on a living room wall for almost generations. That feeling of having a piece of my artwork appreciated in a physical form for such period is so fulfilling to me. It is the type of fulfillment I seek with photography. I strive to have my client (quinceanera) look their absolute best with a whimsical and royal aesthetic. To show her beauty as she blooms to young adulthood, and have the depiction of her appreciated for years to come.
